Fable Events - FAQ

Booking Process

  • How can I book rental items?
You can book party equipment through our website, by phone at (647) 627-1267, or via email at contact@fableevents.ca. Online bookings offer real-time availability and pricing.
  • Do I consent to text/SMS communications when booking?
By submitting a booking through our website, phone, or email, you consent to receive text/SMS communications from Fable Events regarding delivery updates, booking status, reminders, and other rental-related information. You may opt out by replying "STOP" to any message or contacting us at contact@fableevents.ca or (647) 627-1267. Standard messaging and data rates may apply, and we will not share your phone number with third parties except as required by law or to facilitate rental services.

Rental Period

  • When does the rental period start and end?
The rental period begins on the specified start date and time and ends on the specified end date and time as agreed upon at the time of booking.
  • Can items be delivered or picked up early?
Items may be delivered or picked up up to 5 days before or after the rental period, weather permitting and subject to delivery availability.

Rental Fee and Deposits

  • What is the total rental fee?
The total rental fee, including all applicable taxes and charges, will be outlined in your rental agreement.
  • What is the reservation deposit?
A non-refundable reservation deposit of 25% of the total rental fee is required upon signing the rental agreement to secure your reservation.
  • When is the remaining balance and damage deposit due?
The remaining balance (75%) of the rental fee and a refundable security deposit of 25% of the total rental fee must be paid 5 days before the rental period begins.
  • When will I get my security deposit back?
The security deposit will be refunded within 7 days after the return of the rented items, provided they are returned in good condition and free from damage.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, cheques, and electronic bank transfers. Full payment details will be provided at booking.
  • What are the deposit rules for high-value rentals?
For rentals exceeding $2,000, a non-refundable reservation deposit of 50% of the total rental fee is due at booking, with the remaining 50% and a refundable security deposit of 25% due 2 weeks before delivery.
  • What is the Damage Waiver, and how does it work?
The Damage Waiver is an optional, non-refundable fee of 10% of the total rental fee, payable at booking (via phone or email) or after booking confirmation for website bookings (a revised invoice will be sent). It covers accidental damage to rented items (e.g., tears, stains), but excludes negligence, misuse, theft, loss, or weather-related tent damage, as we prioritize safe evacuation during adverse weather. If purchased, you won’t be charged for covered repair/replacement costs; otherwise, the refundable damage deposit may be used for damages.

Delivery and Pickup

  • How are delivery and pickup scheduled?
Fable Events will deliver and pick up items at agreed-upon times, subject to adjustments due to unforeseen circumstances like weather or logistics. Changes will be communicated as soon as possible.
  • Where are items delivered and picked up?
Standard delivery and pickup are to the nearest curbside, driveway, garage, or parking lot. Multi-floor delivery/pickup incurs additional charges, and restricted backyard access may limit delivery to curbside or driveway.
  • What are my responsibilities during the rental period?
You are responsible for ensuring rented items are accessible for pickup at the agreed-upon time and location. Delays due to site conditions (e.g., muddy ground) may incur additional fees if caused by inadequate access or preparation.
  • What if I return items early?
Early returns do not entitle you to a refund or adjustment of the rental fee.

Care and Use of Rental Items

  • How should I use the rental items?
Use items as intended with due care, following safety guidelines (e.g., evacuating tents during high winds). Prohibited uses include cooking under tents or overloading with decorations.
  • What condition should items be returned in?
Items must be returned in the same condition as received, except for normal wear and tear. Damages or losses may result in additional charges.
  • Do I need to clean the items before returning?
Items must be returned clean and free from debris, except for tableware and linens where specific instructions are provided. Additional cleaning fees may apply if items are not returned clean.

Liability and Indemnification

  • Is Fable Events liable for injuries?
No, Fable Events is not liable for injuries, accidents, or damages from the use of rented items. You assume all responsibility for safe use.
  • What is the indemnification clause?
You agree to indemnify and hold Fable Events harmless against any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses related to the rental and use of items.

Cancellation Policy

  • Are deposits refundable?
All deposits, including the reservation deposit, are non-refundable to ensure the availability and reservation of your rented items, except as outlined in the 48-hour cancellation policy.
  • What is the 48-hour cancellation policy?
You may cancel your booking within 48 hours of placing it, provided the scheduled delivery date is at least 2 weeks away, and receive a full refund of any deposits paid. After 48 hours, all deposits are non-refundable.
  • How do I cancel my rental reservation?
Contact us in writing or via email at contact@fableevents.ca. Cancellations will be processed per the terms in your rental agreement and the 48-hour cancellation policy.

Item Handling and Organization

  • How should items be organized for pickup?
If items are delivered stacked, you must restack them in the same manner for pickup unless setup and takedown services are purchased.
  • What are setup and takedown services?
Optional services where our team handles the organization of items for setup and takedown.
  • What happens if I don't stack items correctly?
Failure to comply with stacking requirements may result in additional fees.

Line Locates and Underground Infrastructure

  • What are my responsibilities for line locates?
For tent installations, you must arrange public and private line locates (e.g., utilities, sprinkler systems) at least 7 days before delivery and provide written confirmation 5 days prior. Tent stakes may penetrate up to 4 feet, and Fable Events is not liable for damage to unmarked infrastructure.
  • Who is responsible for underground infrastructure damage?
You are responsible for identifying and marking underground infrastructure. Fable Events is not liable for damage to unmarked or improperly marked utilities, and you assume all related costs and liabilities.

Weather-Related Conditions

  • What happens if weather affects rented items?
You are responsible for monitoring weather and following safety guidelines (e.g., evacuating tents during high winds). Fable Events may issue a partial or full refund for items unusable due to weather, at our discretion, but deposits remain non-refundable.
  • What if weather delays pickup?
If weather-related conditions (e.g., muddy ground) prevent pickup, Fable Events may delay retrieval without additional fees, provided the delay is not due to customer actions. You remain responsible for securing items until pickup.
